Where: Belgium, Zeebrugge
When: 2004
Title: Matrix
Description: Daniel had been experimenting with this idea for a year or two but, this is the first time that he feels it was a success. This sculpture was carved at the Zeebrugge sand sculpture event organised by Sandaholics a Pipe events. The Theme was Hollywood so using a scene from the film the Matrix as a starting point Daniel broke the movement into five different frames of Animation and joined them together so as to show the whole movement in one sculpture. Neo archs his back to avoid bullets as they zip by. ‘ Trying to get all the figures looking similar while changing the expression of the faces and carving the figures intersecting was quite a challenge but, the sand was very good and the atmosphere at the event helped me carve something I was quite pleased with’.
