Title: Modern Crib

Description: For the annual sand crib in La Pineda, Spain this year we went with a very controversial modern depiction. Joseph, Mary and Jesus were normal modern folk as they were in their own time, standing at a bus stop with their child in a buggy. The crib this year was popular albeit through controversy rather than religious approval. Each of the characters were looked at through their roles in the traditional crib and then brought forward in time to today. The Angles as messengers were transformed into TV’s, the Shepard’s into scientists with reference to the cloning issue, the cow into a beef map, the donkey into a supermarket ride, the three wise men into the three wise guys with their modern wealth and the wood chopper into a small minded chainsaw wielding deforester.
